When you’re on a webpage with content you want to know more about, highlight a word or phrase you’re interested in, then right click & select “Search Google for…” Google will find additional information for you.
Searching for something very specific? Use quotes around your search terms. This tells search engines that you want to find that exact phrase, not the words in the phrase in any order.
To exclude words from a search, use a hyphen. This alerts search engines that you want information on the word pumpkin but it’s almost Fall & you don’t want recipes for Pumpkin spice! This hack removes results that you know you don’t want.Example: Pumpkin -spice
Find websites that are related to another site that you like using a colon
Example: related: imdb.com
Let’s say you want to find news related to the California wildfires, but you only want information from the Bay Area NBC site. In the search bar, type the search terms you need, then site:Example: california wildfires site:nbcbayarea.com
Want to track all of those packages you’ve ordered in quarantine? Simply type the tracking number into the Google search bar. No matter what carrier it’s with, Google will find your tracking update.
As our final hack, we’ll leave you with something fun! In the Google search bar, type the words “do a barrel roll”, now try “askew”. Finally, try out “Google sphere” and click on I’m feeling Lucky.
