TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT FOR FAMILY OFFICES

Cybersecurity, Managed IT, and Technology Infrastructure—Handled as One Environment

Most family offices know cybersecurity matters.

What’s harder is knowing where to start — and how it connects to the rest of your systems, your vendors, and your plans for AI adoption. Decypher manages the full technology environment for high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and private clients, protecting both digital privacy and operational security across the family office business operations and the residences and principals behind them.

This isn’t a portal or an app. It’s a specialized team with 20 years of experience, the accountability to own your full environment, and the discretion to operate inside it.

Not sure where your gaps are? We begin with a structured assessment, a direct conversation, and a clear technology roadmap — including where AI fits in your environment.

Where Things Usually Break Down

Cybersecurity doesn’t exist separately from the rest of your technology environment.

It runs through your networks, devices, staff, and every vendor who has ever been given access.  Most family offices have some version of family office IT support in place, along with security tools and systems that have been added over time. Each piece works on its own.

But who is responsible for how your technology works together? Who has access? Who owns what when something goes wrong? And as AI tools make their way into daily operations, who is thinking through how that affects the security and structure of the environment? In most family offices, nobody has a clear answer because no one was assigned or taken ownership of that responsibility.

ONE TEAM. FULL ENVIRONMENT.

We Don't Step Into One Part of the Environment.
We Take Responsibility for How It Operates as a Whole.

That means cybersecurity, managed IT, and the infrastructure your properties and private offices run on — managed by one team, with one clear line of accountability. Decypher’s security consultants for family offices bring a cybersecurity-first approach to technology management. This is the core of what we do, not a service added alongside something else. Every layer of protection is part of a deliberate, defense-in-depth program built specifically for the complexity of private client environments—including guidance on AI adoption, so new technology is introduced with the right structure and safeguards in place from the start.

Cybersecurity for the Full Family Office

Cybersecurity built for the way family offices are structured. Most providers cover one side or the other. Decypher’s family office security teams manages both — protection for the family office's business operations, holdings, and offices, and separate residential cybersecurity for principals, executives, and private residences. Our Security Operations Center is recognized by Gartner, Frost & Sullivan, G2, and Tolly Group, and every engagement is backed by 24/7 monitoring and response with an incident response plan already in place.

Managed IT for the Office. Concierge Technology Services for the Residence

Day-to-day technology management for the systems your family office depends on. Endpoints, servers, firewalls, backups, and network infrastructure — monitored, maintained, and supported by a dedicated team. Proactive by design, so issues are addressed before they become problems.

We also provide AI adoption guidance and technology roadmapping for offices evaluating new tools.

For principals and private residences, our technology concierge service covers home technology from smart systems and connectivity to devices and entertainment — with proactive maintenance visits and a dedicated point of contact who knows the property and responds when needed.

Technology Infrastructure & Connectivity

The layer everything else runs on. Network design and installation, wireless, fiber, cellular coverage, and surveillance support for multi-property environments. Built around how the properties operate, not a standard template.

WHERE MOST ENGAGEMENTS BEGIN

A Different Kind of Assessment

Most security assessments produce a list of findings. Ours produces a working document your team can act on.

Before we manage anything, we need to understand how your environment is set up. That means an on-site visit with a dedicated specialist, not a remote scan. This concierge approach to assessment is how we’ve operated for 20 years, and it’s what makes the difference between a report that sits in a drawer and one that changes how your environment is managed.

Because family offices operate across both a business entity and one or more private residences, we scope assessments to cover both sides — the office and holdings on the commercial side, and the networks, devices, and vendor access across private properties on the residential side.

What you receive afterward is a comprehensive report that covers:

Network architecture evaluation and current state analysis

Wi-Fi analysis including spectrum analysis, signal-to-noise ratio, and rogue access point detection

Full vulnerabilities report with prioritized findings

Residential vendor compliance framework and rules of engagement

Actionable roadmap with critical near-term steps and longer-term recommendations

Threat analysis specific to your environment

This is the starting point for most Managed Secure engagements. It’s also available as a standalone service for family offices that want a clear picture of where they stand before making any decisions.

CLEAR OWNERSHIP. FEWER GAPS.

When Everyone Is Responsible, No One Is

Most family offices work with more than one technology vendor. The problem is what happens when something goes wrong and the work of figuring out where the issue started, who owns the fix, and how to coordinate a response falls to you.

There’s another layer most providers miss. High-net-worth individuals face a different risk profile than most organizations — a breach at the residence can affect the business, and a compromise at the private office can reach the principal’s personal accounts. Providers who only cover one side leave the other exposed.

Decypher manages both. Commercial cybersecurity for the family office’s business operations and holdings. Residential cybersecurity for principals, executives, and private properties. Managed IT and technology infrastructure across the full environment. And because family office security is our specialty — not a secondary offering — every layer of protection is part of a structured, defense-in-depth program with one team and one accountability structure.

WHO REFERS US

Relied on by the Advisors Who Protect Your Interests

Many of our family office clients don’t find us through a search. They come through the professionals already responsible for protecting them: family office executives, global banks, legal counsel, and wealth managers who have seen what happens when the wrong provider is in place.

When digital risk surfaces for one of their clients, those advisors refer Decypher. Part of what drives that confidence is how we work. There is no app to navigate, no support queue to wait in, and no account rep who has never seen your environment. Our team knows your setup, responds directly, and protects digital privacy with the discretion that private wealth relationships require. We work alongside existing relationships without disrupting them. That’s why senior cybersecurity advisors at leading global banks and private wealth institutions direct their clients to us by name.

If your advisor wants to understand how we work, we’re happy to connect with them directly.

Family Offices

UHNW family with multiple residences and a small internal IT team

Referral Source:
A leading global investment bank

Pre-engagement Status:
Traditional IT support in place, but no formal cybersecurity program. Home networks and connected systems were unmanaged, and exposure risks had gone unaddressed.

The Problem

The family was targeted by an attacker who physically canvassed their neighborhood and identified their residence by its Wi-Fi network, which was named after the family. The hacker exploited an unpatched device to access the home network and, from there, infiltrated the CFO’s email account.

Using AI tools, the attacker monitored communications and learned the CFO’s tone and writing style. At the opportune moment, they inserted themselves into an active payment exchange and redirected funds by altering the vendor’s delivery address.

The fraud was caught just in time by federal investigators—just before the transfer was finalized.

Decypher's Response

Following the referral, our team was brought in immediately to investigate and secure the family’s digital environment. We began with a forensic review of the entry point and confirmed the vulnerability in an overlooked network device. From there, we secured all endpoints, evaluated exposed communications, and implemented safeguards across their home infrastructure and personal systems.

In parallel, we worked directly with the family office team to establish incident protocols, address staff access risks, and begin the process of building a long-term protective strategy tailored to how the family actually lives and works.

The breach was contained before any funds were lost. But more importantly, the family now operates under a full-spectrum cybersecurity framework, with Decypher in place as a trusted partner. Protections span all residences, staff acess points, and key individuals—quietly operating in the background, with as little disruption to daily life as possible.

The Family Office

Established family office supporting a multi-generational UHNW family with complex assets and outside advisors

Client Status:
Existing Decypher client with full protection across properties and personnel

Engagement Context:
Active monitoring and phishing defense already in place, including enhanced email scanning and vendor verification protocols

The Problem

A known art dealer emailed a routine invoice for a recent acquisition—everything matched the transaction details, including the amount and timing. But the dealer’s email had been compromised. The attacker had inserted themselves into the thread, subtly altering the wiring instructions. The family office was preparing to send payment to the wrong account.

Because the client had Decypher’s protective measures in place, the malicious redirect was flagged before funds were transferred.

Decypher's Response

Our Systems flagged inconsistencies in the email headers and link paths—signs of impersonation invisible to the untrained eye. We immediately paused the transaction, verified the breach, and contacted the compromised art dealer’s office to confirm the fraud.

While this wasn’t a breach of the family office itself, it could have resulted in a six-figure loss. Our team worked closely with both the family and the vendor to contains the risk and reinforce safeguards on both sides.

The Family Office

UHNW principal with a family office and multiple residences, preparing to sell a privately held business

Client Status:
Engaged Decypher post-incident

Pre-engagement Setup:
Enrolled in BlackCloak for identity monitoring and personal device protection; home network and family office systems remained unprotected

The Problem

Just 48 hours before closing on the sale of his company, the principal’s systems were hit with a ransomware attack. Hackers had been inside for weeks—silently watching, mapping systems, and waiting for the right moment. When it came, they encrypted everything—paralyzing access and halting the deal.

Although the principal was enrolled in BlackCloak, which provided dark web monitoring and personal device protection, the service did not extend to the home network or shared family office infrastructure. That’s where the attackers got in.

With the business immobilized, the sale fell through. The deal was later renegotiated at a reduced price—resulting in a multimillion-dollar loss.

Decypher's Response

The family office brought in Decypher to investigate and secure the environment. We traced the breach to a vulnerable device inside the home network-an exposure point not covered under the existing protection plan.

Our team implemented a full-spectrum cybersecurity framework across the family’s entire digital footprint, including home, travel, personal devices, and family office operations. Network segmentation, secure access protocols, and transaction-specific safeguards were all part of the new baseline.

The Outcome

What couldn’t be recovered financially was recovered strategically. Today, the principal and family office operate under Decypher’s protection—with all systems integrated into a single, proactive security posture. Every residence, asset, and workflow is now accounted for. No blind spots remain.
